¶ Configuring DHCP Leases for LAN
The DHCP server allocates IP addresses dynamically to devices on the network as they connect. This ensures that devices have unique and valid IP addresses, reducing the likelihood of IP address conflicts. DHCP assigns IP addresses with lease durations, specifying how long a device can use the assigned address. When the lease expires, the device must renew the lease with the DHCP server. Lease management helps optimize IP address utilization and allows for efficient resource allocation.
DHCP servers allow administrators to reserve specific IP addresses for particular devices, ensuring that critical resources receive consistent IP addressing.
As an integral part of Exium's Cyber Gateway (CGW), the DHCP server automates and streamlines the process of IP address assignment and network configuration, simplifying network management, optimizing resource allocation, and enhancing network efficiency.
To configure DHCP leases for a new Cyber Gateway deployment on LAN interface, follow the steps below.
- Navigate to the MSP admin console -> Client Workspace
- Click on Sites → Local Policies in the left menu bar
- Select DHCP Leases tab
- DHCP leases option will be allowed if DHCP option is enabled for CGW.
- Select DHCP Leases tab
- Select CGW from drop down list
- Leave Interface Type to All (this configuration is used when multiple LAN interfaces are configured on CGW)
- Select Interface ID or select subnet for which DHCP lease configuration is required
- Click on Add DHCP Leases, to add configuration
- Specify Name to recognize/identify unique entry
- Select Interface Type as LAN
- Select Interface ID / LAN Subnet
- Specify IP address
- Provide Hostname of the device/machine
- Provide MAC Address of the device/machine
- Click on Save
Make sure specified static IP belongs to subnet range which is configured for DHCP server.
- Saved/existing leases will be seen on same page
- You can also edit DHCP lease and update. Configuration will update automatically after some time.
¶ Configuring DHCP Leases for VLAN
To configure DHCP leases for a new Cyber Gateway deployment on VLAN interface, follow the steps below.
- Navigate to the MSP admin console -> Client Workspace
- Click on Sites → Cyber gateways
- Click on the CGW name to check what DHCP range is configured for VLAN ID, you would like to use for DHCP lease configuration
- For eg., below sample shows that VLAN ID 11 with subnet 192.168.11.0/24 is configured with DHCP range 192.168.11.2 to 192.168.11.250
- Click on Sites → Local Policies in the left menu bar
- Select DHCP Leases tab
- DHCP leases option will be allowed if DHCP option is enabled for CGW.
- Select DHCP Leases tab
- Select CGW from drop down list
- Leave Interface Type to All (this configuration is used when multiple LAN interfaces are configured on CGW)
- Select Interface ID or select VLAN ID from drop down for which DHCP lease configuration is needed
- Click on Add DHCP Leases, to add configuration

- Specify IP address
- Provide Hostname of the device/machine
- Provide MAC Address of the device/machine
- Click on Save

¶ Show Existing DHCP Leases Configured
- Navigate to the MSP admin console -> Client Workspace
- Click on Sites → Local Policies in the left menu bar
- Select DHCP Leases tab
- DHCP leases option will be allowed if DHCP option is enabled for CGW.
- Select DHCP Leases tab
- Select CGW from drop down list
